What comes to your mind when u realize suddenly that you are an Indian???.........Patriotism??.....Pride??.......Self Respect????.........or.........Disgust??....Shame???.......Insult???
Well.....the latter emotions are not a common phenomenon!!......because we are or..... at least we all say we are Proud to be Indian........we are proud to have such an ancient and 'respected' culture..........we feel a sudden rush of patriotism when we hear our national song Vande mataram.......or when we see a patriotic film.......or when India wins a cricket match........!!!!!!!!!!!
What use is this bubble kind of patriotism which can burst any time!!!!!!!! What can you do for the India you are "proud" of!!!!!.......the answer is NOTHING!!!!!
Everyone talks about The Great Indian Culture. Why are we so proud of our culture????? Is it because of the casteism which still survives in our country after 63 years of independence!!!!..........Or is it because of the treatment women have been given for ages.....from Sita to every female foetus that's being killed!!!!!!!!! Why do people discuss India as an example for secularism and for unity in diversity?????.......Is it because of Babri masjid demolition or Mumbai and Gujarat Riots?????.........or because of the North Indian bhagao policy in Maharashtra or the Telangana movement in Andhra Pradesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every politician "pays respect" to Mahatma Gandhi on his Vardhanti and Jayanthi. But.....how many of them actually follow atleast one single principle of his'?????
Every educated Indian knows very well how our Independence was earned.......how many lives were sacrificed for that and how many great leaders worked hard for that......How many of those educated Indians truly feel responsible and work sincerely for India?????
But everyone is ready to say "I am Proud To be an Indian".
The corrupt bureaucracy, the power hungry Politicians and the irresponsible citizen.............everyone say they honour their culture!!!! But there is no single person who follows it!!!!!!!
We are more inspired from Shakuni and Raavan rather than Ram or Yudhister.........We almost forgot that the Great Lord Buddha ever existed in India. Japan is an example of a country which developed with the support of the culture it believed in, Buddhist culture.
Our history taught us about Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and DR. B.R. Ambedkar.......but we have confined them to photos on wall and statues at every street corner. They are the poster boys of every damn political party!!!!!! But the fact is these parties are not worthy enough to even take the names of these legendary leaders.
And we have sealed their principles........and dumped them in gutter!!!!!!!!!!
This is the irony of being Indian my friends.........
We are proud of things we are not willing to follow!!!.......we are proud of things which we never do!!! We are proud of things for which we don't show any respect!!!!!!!!! KUDOS my friends!!!!!!!
Our ancestors have given us a precious gift earned with many blood sacrifices. It is our responsibility to take good care of our gift and pass it on to our future generations. Merely "feeling proud" of imaginary stuff does nothing for the nation. Whatever thought you have.....if its going to do any help for the nation then put it into action. Freedom wasn't won in one day or by one man..............its a result of 200 years of struggle and a million sacrifices .
So let's make our freedom worth it!!! Let us all feel responsibel!!!!!Let's make our nation....a nation to be honestly proud of!!!!!Everything is in our hands!!!!!!

Why all the negetivity buddy. The very fact that india with all its diversity is even able to exists is something to be proud of. And talkin about culture it changes man, u can't keep following the same thing all the time. What was appropriate yesterday may not be right today. And about all the stuff u said about castism female abuse etc, its used to be worse. Frankly we should give india time to grow. US had almost 2 centures. So i guess there's ope ( hey its not like paradise is gona just pop up in a day). Btw hope nothin i said here offends u.
ReplyDeletethanks a lot for commenting yaar:-)........yep u are absolutely right US took 2 centuries to develop.....but they acheived dat thru shear sincerity.....which is lacking in us.......sabhi 15 august ko chutti zaroor lete hai...lekin sabhi apne apne ghar basane mein laage rahthe hai......India is able to exist with all its diversity, true....but is it able to exist peacefully with its diversity is the question........and yeah...if anybody is to truly follow our culture....it wd b very tuff as no can get away by speaking only truth the whole day........but atleast thinking ethically before doing something......protesting against smtg which is going to harm people are not only a part of our culture but also common sense.....and finally Rome wasn't built in a day bro.....i am not talking abt a sudden change.....but just asking people to give this a thought......dat we can make anything possible by feeling a bit responsible......once again thanks for commenting yaar...
ReplyDeleteDude, sorry, but I don't agree with you. First of all, the US is NOT perfect. They have worse problems than we have here. 'Two centuries of development' were filled with innumerable civil wars and internal struggles. They dont have the caste system but they have racism. The truth now is that the American government(NOT THE AMERICANS THEMSELVES, MIND YOU) is hated by many people all over the world, even by their own people. Their 'President' system is inflexible, and is the cause of many hardships to many people.
ReplyDeleteNothing like that can happen in India(atleast not in the near future), because in India there is always a strong opposition...people trying to fight for the chair... even though they are doin it for their own profit, and causing many problems along the way, the arguments in the parliament are responsible for the fact that India AS A COUNTRY rarely ever makes a bad choice. India as a country never invaded another country for 10000 years! India as a country has been fighting for world peace and internal stability since practically forever. Isn't THAT something to be proud of?
Sure, dude, we have a lot of problems. Problems caused by conquerors, raiders, class struggle, prejudice and all sorts of stupid things. We simply have a BIGGER challenge. It will take some time to solve all our problems. That doesn't mean that we should not be proud of our country! Be positive macha!
thanks for commenting yaar :)....well i guess u got the wrong side of wat i said.....i never used or compared india to usa....the only country whose name i took was Japan. And there is nothing wrong in being proud unless you are sincere towards your country, merely "feeling proud" is of no use.....i guess u r just focusing on the -ve side of wat side......the inference i want people to draw from it is clear "Let's make our nation....a nation to be honestly proud of!Everything is in our hands!"

thing is, nothing can be done with bitching and whining. what needs to be done is a big change. and that involves starting with ourselves.
serious moral principles are lacking today. what we need is a good government with good leaders. doesn't matter how much they can do..but how good they do.
